a) Social networking is a means to creating a community. Like minded people connect in various ways in an online environment and make social connections that would otherwise be must more difficult if not for the internet.
b) The social networking sites I currently use are Facebook, Twitter and following and writing blogs. Facebook is my way to keep in touch with a variety of friends and contacts. I mainly follow celebrities and comedians on Twitter. I find it is a fun look at what celebrities are thinking and sharing. Blogs are another way for my friends and I to keep in touch, without writing individual, personal emails. It's almost like a mass email, but with fun stories and photographs. If a large group of my friends started using a different program, like 4sq.com, then I'd be more likely to give it a try. But as of right now, I feel I have my social networking bases covered.
c) By completing INF506, I hope to learn about a wider variety of social networking sites and programs and how they can be used more effectively to achieve the goals of a company or establishment like a library.
